Prayer for Healing

Bible promises that healing is possible even today. So far you might be believing that Jesus alone performed healings only while He was on Earth. Or you may assume that after the book of Acts, the power of the HolySpirit ceased and miracles only lasted till the time of Apostles. If you have enough faith to go to heaven by salvation in Christ Jesus, why have "inadequate faith" when it comes to healings and miracles here on Earth? This is absolutely limiting the power of God, and no where it is mentioned in the Bible that HolySpirit power left the Earth along with Jesus/Apostles, let me break it down for you in this blog. You don't have to dwell in your sicknesses or diseases or weaknesses assuming God has "changed" after the Bible times.

God presented Himself to Israelites in the wilderness in Exodus as Yahweh Rapha (meaning "the Lord who heals"), when we know that our God is never changing, how can this nature of God as healer not be demonstrated? Bible records the God's promises of healing to His people time and again, to quote a few scriptures: Malachi 4:2 "But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves." We as children of God, also have healing-ability inherited within us through faith in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, as we read in Isaiah 53:5: But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. So it wasn't just until the death of Jesus and His disciples that healings lasted, the very promise of healing is in having faith on the cross.

SIN:

You may wonder - why then nothing is happening when I pray, why am I not healed yet? Let me ask you something, what could be the cause of diseases and sicknesses in this world? The Bible clearly states the reasons and you shall unlock your healing by dealing with the root cause, let's navigate through the reasons. Sin could be one of the reasons for illnesses and God promises healing to us upon repentance.

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14

David clearly mentions in Psalm 38:3 that, it was his sin which led to God's anger and ill-health - "There is no soundness in my flesh Because of Your anger, Nor any health in my bones Because of my sin." And God promises healing to His people upon repentance, as we see in Exodus 15:26 “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.” The promise of healing through confession is also given to us New Testament believers, "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." - James 5:16.

DEMONS:

Health issues can also occur because of demonic oppression and the very evidence is in the Bible, Jesus Himself healed sick people by casting out demons and the sick were healed instantly of their infirmities. "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him." - Acts 10:38. Now, several mental health issues like depression, anxiety, self-harm, sleeplessness, attention deficiency, psychological disorders, inability to perform basic daily tasks, etc., can also be caused by demons as we see in Matthew 8:28 - Jesus healed two demon-possessed men in the country of the Gergesenes. Another instance: "Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw." - Matthew 12:22. "...as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed." - Luke 6:18. "When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick," - Matthew 4:24.

"...and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons" - Luke 8:2

The reasons for why a demon attacks a person causing them sicknesses could vary, sin could open doors to the devil, as we see in 1 John 3:8 "He who sins is of the devil." Psalms 37:27 - "Depart from evil, and do good; And dwell forevermore."

It can occur even through witchcraft, as we see in Leviticus 19:31 "Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God." God clearly instructs Israelites not to follow the unbelieving nations' traditions and beliefs,

Deuteronomy 18: "10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. 12 For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you... 14 For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the Lord your God has not appointed such for you."

God punishes those who part-take with the devil, as we see in

Isaiah 47:12-14 “Keep on, then, with your magic spells and with your many sorceries, which you have labored at since childhood... All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those star-gazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. These are not coals for warmth; this is not a fire to sit by."

Healing and deliverance is possible through the discarding of evil practices & demonic things, by repentance for participating in the things of the devil and through anointed prayer.

Lord's supper and healing:

The promise of healing is in placing faith on the crucifixion of Christ (Isaiah 53:5), the fulfilment is in part-taking in the act of remembrance of the promise, that is, Lord's table.

And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you. - Luke 22:19-20

"Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day." - John 6:54. "This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” - John 6:58. When the blood of Jesus is the new covenant, what was the old covenant which Jews put their faith in? Paul writes that Jesus is the passover lamb, 1 Corinthians 5:7 "Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us." Now the significance of passover lamb, we find in Exodus 12 where Israelites were saved from the angel of death by applying blood on their houses doorposts. The Lord instructed to them - "Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt." - Exodus 12:13. If the passover lamb could save the children of God from possible death, how much more powerful is the blood of Christ Jesus, who is the Son of God. We know the opposite consequence of part-taking in Lord's table without examining one-self (1 Corinthians 11), then how much blessing will we possess by part-taking with faith and reverence.

Immediate healing:

Healings can take place instantly through prayer, we know this by the healings Jesus offered to people, as we see in Mark 5:29: "Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.", also in Matthew 8:13 "Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour." also, Matthew 8:14-15 "Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them."

Absolute healing:

There is wide-spread belief among Christians across the world that healing through prayer is only limited to certain illnesses.

Whatever science can't cure, God can heal. - But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” - Matthew 19:26

Bible has several mentions of Jesus and Apostles healing "all" kinds of diseases. "Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them." - Matthew 4:24. Also see Matthew 4:23, Matthew 9:35, Matthew 12:15, Luke 6:19.

Jesus even healed the dead, by rising them back to life without any trace of sickness that caused the death. "While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him. But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose." - Matthew 9:23-25.

Absolute healings also took place through Apostles as we see in Acts 5:15-16 "they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed."

Miracles through servants of God:

Jesus imparted the power and authority onto His disciples to perform miracles on the earth for expanding the Kingdom of God through gospel.

And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease... Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. - Matthew 10:1,8

Another reference: "Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons" - Mark 3:14-15, also see Luke 9:1-6. They performed miracles while Jesus was still here on earth. If you have heard that no healings took place after the crucifixion of Christ, then read the book of Acts where the Apostles healed all. Acts 5:15-16 - "...so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed." Jesus also anoints the seventy-two disciples and they perform miracles too, see Luke 10. So the power of God is not limited to the 12 disciples but to whomever God choses to anoint and appoint as His servants. Now, if miracles ceased with the Acts of the Apostles, then why did God promise the gifts of the Holy Spirit? 1 Corinthians 12:9 "...to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit." Some people argue that healings are no more today, if it were so then other gifts such as word of wisdom and word of knowledge might also be ceased right? But churches exist even today with preaching being the main section of a service. This argument holds no good, we can't decide which gifts have ceased and which haven't, because "gifts of the Holy Spirit (are given), according to His own will" - Hebrews 2:4. Hence all servants of God may not carry all the gifts, so one who doesn't have the gift of healing cannot conclude that healings don't happen in this age.

Prayer for healings through the body of Christ is clearly instructed to us in James 5: 14-15 "Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."

PROMISE:

We see throughout the scriptures that God answered prayers of the people, if you believe in prayer-answering God, why not expect healings out of His omnipotence?

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;" - Isaiah 61:1

Believe and confess these verses over your life:

He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. - Psalm 147:3

By His stripes we are healed - Isaiah 53:5

O Lord my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me. - Psalm 30:2

Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise. - Jeremiah 17:14

For I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,’ - Jeremiah 30:17

Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth. - Jeremiah 33:6

I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. - John 10:10

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. - 3 John 1:2

Prayer:

Confess with your mouth every point listed below with genuine faith, agreeing with Amen.

1. Lord Jesus, I repent of all my sins that I've ever committed by my own will and full consciousness and I promise to live a life of holiness. Forgive me and wash me in your precious blood.

2. I repent of my un-forgiveness towards others who have caused trouble in my life. With the grace of God, I heartfully forgive all those who have hurt me, in Jesus name.

3. I repent of my disobedience and rebellion towards God in Jesus name.

4. I repent of my unfaithfulness and backsliding from the Lord, and I return to my saviour Lord Jesus with full surrender.

5. I repent of the things which displeased God, which I didn't realize were a sin, Lord wash me clean. I believe I receive the forgiveness and carry no guilt or shame, in Jesus name.

6. I renounce association with people who brought me into sinful lifestyle, in Jesus name.

7. I renounce of all the demonic things that I allowed into my house without knowledge, in Jesus name.

8. I renounce addiction, in Jesus name.

9. I renounce every soul-tie with people who are not meant to continue with me in my life, in Jesus name.

10. I renounce every generational curse and affliction from my place of birth, in Jesus name.

11. I renounce every witchcraft, new age practices, astrology, yoga, demonic rituals, cult music, watching horror/violence, idol worship which I ever participated in, I plead forgiveness in Jesus name.

12. I renounce every evil covenant off of my life, in Jesus name.

13. I reject every lie of the enemy against God's perfect will in my life, in Jesus name.

14. I refuse to accept any attack from the devil through thoughts or temptations or favours from people, in Jesus name

15. I detach myself from every spirit that I ever entertained, in Jesus name.

16. I crucify my nature onto Jesus's cross and believe in resurrected new nature of Christ within me.

17. I receive the blood of Jesus to overflow through me flushing out all the evil from my body, soul and spirit, in Jesus name.

18. I am a new creation in Christ and the old has passed away.

19. I am saved by Jesus and carry the Holy Spirit within me.

20. I enable my spirit to be in line with the Holy Spirit.

21. I receive renewal of mind and have clarity in my thoughts, in Jesus name.

22. I do not let my emotions control my day, I cancel every pain that hinders my progress, in Jesus name.

23. I receive peace into my heart and cancel every negative emotion or reject every negative feeling in me, in Jesus name.

24. I receive total healing in my mind, in Jesus name.

25. I believe Jesus is close to my broken-heart, all my wounds are bound and I receive complete healing from pain in my heart in Jesus name.

26. I reject my past from controlling me and I let go of every trauma, in Jesus name.

27. I receive cleansing from all the bitterness in my heart and refuse the resentment I have towards people and God, I declare my relationship with God is restored in Jesus name.

28. I give no place to fear and don't allow my circumstances to decide my future, in Jesus name.

29. All of God's plans for me are good and my future is in God's hands, I believe in Jesus name.

30. I receive total healing in my emotional, mental, psychological areas of me, in Jesus name.

31. I reject every sickness to leave my body right now, in Jesus name.

32. Every damaged part of me will be repaired and renewed to life again, in Jesus name.

33. Every dis-functioning organ in my body will be restored to full health and begin to function normally, I declare the healing of Jesus all over me, in Jesus name.

34. I am made in the image of God and I am more than conquerer in Jesus Christ.

35. All the wasted years shall be recompensed in my life with the blessing of abundance in Jesus Christ.

36. All that I have lost due to health issues, shall be restored back to me, in Jesus name.

37. By Jesus's stripes, I am healed, I confess with faith, in Jesus name.
