Anointing is not a new terminology. The first mention of Anointing Oil is in the book of Exodus, where Aaron was Anointed as the first High Priest in Israel by using Anointing Oil by Moses, as an act of consecrating him or appointing him in the House of God. We then see Prophet Samuel Anointing King David by pouring oil on his head as an act of appointing them as ruler over Israel, declaring that God chose him to be the next King and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David (1 Samuel 16:13). And we also see Jesus Christ as the Anointed One, as it is written in Luke 4:18 -“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has Anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed." By this we know that Anointing is an act of consecrating or setting apart or being chosen, by God Himself, as His elect in order to fulfil His purpose and His Kingdom work here on Earth.
